Who are Lions Clubs International?

Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organisation. It is an international network of over 1.4 million members in over 48,000 clubs in over 200 countries or geographic areas. These clubs work together through selfless, effective community service to answer the needs that challenge communities.

Lions’ members are individuals who volunteer their time to humanitarian causes in their local and global communities; conducting and supporting vision and health screenings; awarding scholarships; assisting youth and providing help in times of disaster and much more.

In a press release at the end of June 2023, Lions Clubs International announced that members had achieved a massive increase in the numbers of people served throughout the world with a total in excess of 500 million people served. That is one in every 16 people on the planet.

We are focused on supporting vision, the environment, childhood cancer, hunger, diabetes, and other pressing humanitarian needs to help address some of the biggest challenges facing humanity.

As a member of a Lions Club you become aware of the needs of your community and have the opportunity to make a difference. Each Club provides volunteers with project management experience, leadership training, personal development opportunities and organised fund-raising programmes. Being a Lion empowers you to help others in a way that no one person could do alone.
